Regular exercise is proven to provide social and personal benefits as well as improving physical and mental health.

Bowls A group bowls session led by Home Farm Trust. Great for getting moving in a sociable environment.
Disability Active Gym Open gym sessions for adults (16+) with disabilities, supervised by a Personal Trainer providing support to improve fitness levels. Please contact the site with any specific accessibility concerns.
£2.50 per session. Sport England funded project. 
Active Body and Mind Weekly exercise classes and gym buddy programme for adults with mental health difficulties. Exercise classes will involve Health Walks, Circuits, Yoga and Studio Cycling, with a tea/coffee peer support sessions taking place after each class, led by SpeakUP CIC and MEGAN CIC. The Gym Buddy scheme provides an opportunity for participants to bring a friend or family member along to support them to acces the gym. Sport England funded project. 
Karate A karate session for adults with a learning disabilities, delivered by Style Acre.
Rebound Therapy Rebound Therapy Trampolining session is a form of physiotherapy. It uses trampolines to provide therapeutic exercises to people with a wide variety of disabilities and additional needs. The therapy involves using the moving bed of the trampoline to promote movement in the participant. This session is run in partnership with Style Acre.
Virtual Cycling The Virtual Cycling class is run in partnership with Style Acre, providing participants with learning disabilities the chance to improve their fitness through a cycling exercise class.
Football Coached Football sessions for adults (16+) with learning difficulties. This is a structured session where participants can enjoy playing a game of Football while learning new skills.
£2 per session.
Disability Active Swim A swim session led by a qualified level 2 ASA instructor. Open to adults with a disability to improve fitness levels and learn new strokes. Please contact the site with any specific accessibility concerns. Booking required.

Disability Active

Soll Leisure is excited to have successfully applied for Sport England’s ‘Small Grant’s funding stream to support adults with a range of disabilities to lead healthier, more active lifestyles. The funding will enable the programme to last for a year!

Our 'Disability Active' project will provide opportunities for adults (16+) to access and sustain participation in physical activity at the Park Club Milton, Oxfordshire.

The aim of the project is to improve accessibility to gym facilities and provide support to improve fitness levels. Health benefits include reducing the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and type 2 diabetes and improving coordination, balance, agility, and stamina. Participants will benefit from greater social interaction, confidence and self-esteem.

Eligibility

The eligibility for the sessions is as follows:

  • Participants must be over the age of 16.
  • Participants are eligible if they suffer any of the following disabilities, and are able to safely access the activity:
    • Learning disabilities
    • Down's syndrome
    • Asperger's syndrome
    • Autism
    • Cerebral palsy
    • Spinal cord injury
    • Limbless/amputation
    • Visual impairment and hearing impairment

Where a carer is required to support a participant, they can attend for free.

Active Body, Healthy Mind

Soll Leisure and the Park Club are part of the Active Body, Healthy Mind initiative, organised by Oxfordshire Sport and Physical Activity (OxSPA). The initiative offers supported sport and physical activity sessions to people experiencing mental health difficulties in Oxfordshire. The Park Club Milton is providing a leisure pass as part of the programme to access our leisure services and improve health and wellbeing.

  • The programme entitles pass holders to use of the gym, swimming and exercise classes over an 8-week period, with memberships available afterwards to support the participants to continue their active lifestyle.

Active Body and Mind

Soll Leisure has received funding to help adults with mental health difficulties to get active at Park Club Ashford and Chatham, Kent. The ‘Active Body and Mind’ programme received £3,594 in funding and works in partnership with local mental health services SpeakUP CIC and MEGAN CIC to deliver the programme. Weekly exercise classes, a gym buddy scheme and peer support sessions will be available, helping all participants to enjoy the benefits to their physical and mental wellbeing. Exercise classes will cost £1 per session, and the Gym Budy programme £2 per session. 

Exercise classes will involve Health Walks, Circuits, Yoga and Studio Cycling, with a tea/coffee peer support sessions taking place after each class, led by SpeakUP CIC and MEGAN CIC. The Gym Buddy scheme provides an opportunity for participants to bring a friend or family member along to support them to be increase their physical activity levels using the gym.
