We are very excited to welcome strength and conditioning specialists ‘The Athlete Centre Didcot’ within our F.I.T Zone area.
What is the Athlete Centre?
Athlete Centre Didcot run specialist strength and conditioning classes for all abilities, offering an additional 27 classes a week. The classes are led by qualified coaches using a combination of free weights, kettlebells, gymnastics, Olympic lifts and cardiovascular functional exercises. The combination of these exercises are used to develop your all round fitness levels.
The principles of the Athlete Centre are to ensure that each workout is constantly varied, ensuring the classes are always exciting, different and challenging. Classes are suitable for people of all shapes, size, age and ability to improve their overall fitness in a fun and challenging environment.
Unless you are experienced in attending strength & conditioning classes, you will be required to attend our introductory sessions. The sessions will teach you how to perform the movements in a safe and correct manner, preparing you for your first class. The session also provides our coaches with the opportunity to get to know you — your abilities and goals and assess what weights will be appropriate for you to start with for the weightlifting elements of the classes. You will also have the opportunity to try out a sample workout of the day (WOD) during this session. Whether you are looking to access the classes through a membership or pay as you go, you must attend an introductory session before you start taking part in the classes.
A structured strength & conditioning program delivered in a class format and suitable for all abilities. When taking part in the Athlete Centre classes you will be following an ongoing program designed by our head coach. The classes use a combination of free weights, kettlebells, gymnastics, Olympic lifts and cardiovascular functional exercises to develop your all round fitness levels. Every day you will take part in a different class from the day before, with the aim of constantly improving your fitness.
This class will introduce you to the fundamentals of Strongman training. You will be lifting stones and carrying yokes as well as much more. This class is for all abilities with the aim of improving your general strength.
During our Foundations class we take a more detailed look at the key movements involved in our classes, with the aim of improving technique and helping you get the most out of our TACD classes. You will also gain a greater understanding of the Athlete Centre methods with a sample workout of the Day (WOD) at the end.
Team Training is aimed at those who would like to focus more on the competition element of the Athlete Centre. The workouts are all performed in teams in the same way you would do at team competitions. This class is for all abilities and is a good place to start if your goal is to compete or to just to have fun.
