Soll Leisure is excited to have won the ‘Best Apprenticeship/Trainee Scheme’ award at the Didcot Business and Community event, held at the Cornerstone in Didcot, Oxfordshire. The awards and gala evening were organised by Didcot First, recognising and rewarding excellence amongst local businesses, community groups and charities.
Soll Leisure is a charity leisure management company, aiming to get more people, more active, more often through targeted initiatives for disadvantaged groups to access and receive the many benefits of physical activity. As well as promoting the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle, Soll Leisure also supports local communities for other social agenda’s such as health & wellbeing, community safety, education & lifelong learning and social cohesion.
The ‘Best Apprenticeship/Trainee Scheme’ award was gained through Soll Leisure’s positive work providing apprenticeships and work placements for local residents looking to begin a career in the leisure industry and to learn while they work. The scheme provides valuable experience for young people looking to purse a career in the leisure industry and we have also supported adults with disabilities to gain important work skills that will support them to find employment.
Richard Claydon, Community Development Manager for Soll Leisure commented, “We are delighted to receive a BACA award and be recognised for our apprenticeship/trainees scheme. Our community work is extremely important and we understand the benefits in not only promoting sport and physical activity, but other social agenda’s such as education, skills and training. We hope that many local residents will continue to benefit from our apprenticeship and trainee programmes.
This award would not have been possible without our partners, so a special thanks to all the businesses, schools, community groups and charities that have supported us. Soll Leisure would also like to congratulate the other businesses and charities for winning and being nominated for a BACA, a great demonstration of the positive work that takes place locally.”
